SOS Children’s Village Kavre was established in 1997 at Panauti-2 Shreekhandapur, Kavre. It is seventh SOS Children’s Village in Nepal recognized to cater the needs of children and young people without parental care from the central region of the country. It was offically inaugurated by Late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah.
The village is made up of 14 Family Houses and 146 children are living in a secure and protective environment. Children and young people are provided adequate care, education, emotional, social and health related support by the care professionals.
Upon completing school level education and after reaching the age of 16, children are moved to SOS Youth Care. We have a separate Youth Care for boys and girls. They live in a semi-independent setup with the supervision by professional counselors and educationists. Young people are offered with the best possible education and training opportunities available in the country to make them employable and financially self-reliant.
Similarly, SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Kavre has been offering quality and relevant education to the children from the village and nearby community. Apart from catering the educational needs of children, the school has made provisions for scholarship assistance to the children from socially and economically marginalized families.
SOS Children’s Village Kavre is running a number of programmes in Kavre. Apart from family like care, we provide support to the families and communities to strengthen their capacities so that children can live happily in their family of origin. Through Family Strengthening programme, we are providing training to the family members to generate income, educational support to the children, counselling advice and guidance the parents.
