SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi, the youngest village of SOS children’s Villages Nepal has been providing care and protection to the children in need with the conviction that “No child should grow up alone”. It has been continuously expanding its range of services and implementing various forms of alternative care for children such as Family Like Care, Family Strengthening, Kinship Care and Short Term Care. However, SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi gives highest priority to the protection of children from abandonment from their families.
SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi, the 10th children’s Village of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal was established in 2015 in far-west part of the country. It is located in Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-13, Airport Road, Geta, Kailali and lying in-between Dhangadhi and Attariya, the business hubs of the region. It is just 1.5 km to the west of Dhangadhi Airport and has altogether 18 buildings with 12 family houses with the capacity of 109 children, two staff quarters, one administrative building, one community house, one social center and one guard house. The children’s village was inaugurated on October 2, 2015 by honorary president Mr. Helmut Kutin.
112 children are being taken care by 17 mothers & aunts with the support of 13 office staff. All school going children are attending nearby community as well as private schools.
Being a young Village, it doesn’t have the SOS Youth Care for boys and girls. It is under construction.
