SOS Hermann Gmeiner SchGandaki Recognized as the Best School in Nepal

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Gandaki run under its umbrella organization of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal has been successful to achieve the first position among the institutional schools of Nepal in Grade XII Examination-2076 (2019) held by the National Education Board (NEB), Government of Nepal. In recognition of this historic achievement, the school has been awarded with a “Secondary School National Shield (Grade XII) - 2076”, a certificate, the national flag and a cash of NRS 300,000/- amidst the function by Honorable Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. Ishwar Pokharel on the occasion of 40th National Education Day and 53rd International Literacy Day organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.


 
“We feel honored and realize the added responsibilities to maintain the glory of the school and ensure quality education to the students so that they can contribute to the development and render services to the nation,” says Mr. Rajendra Shrestha, School Principal. 
 
He further adds, “We strongly adhere to the belief that this achievement is the outcome of collective efforts of teachers, students, parents and all other stakeholders. We continuously focus on the primary components-inputs and processes of the school education system that obviously lead us towards the best output with holistic development of every child.”
 
On this glorious moment, Dr. Ganga B. Gurung, Head of Education and Youth Development adds ‘I am extremely delighted with this achievement which is a continuation of the legacy of Hermann Gmeiner Schools in the country in relation to quality education. It was Hermann Gmeiner School Sanothimi last year and this year Hermann Gmeiner School Gandaki has been awarded with this national recognition by the Government of Nepal. This unprecedented achievement is a testimony to the fact that our schools are best positioned pertaining to quality education considering the social justice and inclusion in Nepal. These schools serve a large number of children from the target group and are helping to enhance our SOS brand.’


 
SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Gandaki situated in Pokhara, Gandaki Province has been providing quality education to the children who have lost parents, in the verge of losing parental care, economically and socially underprivileged on the need based scholarship and children from nearby community on fee paying basis since its establishment in 1982. This school started Science stream course of grade eleven in 1995 being affiliated to the then Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) of Nepal. Since then our graduates have always been successful in different placement tests and contributing the nation-building process. At present, the school has 892 students studying from Nursery to Grade XII. Among them, 170 students are pursuing their Science stream course in Grade XI and XII.
