Deputy Prime Minister Visits SOS Children Villages Nepal, Attends Youth Event

The Honorable Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha recently paid a visit to SOS Children Villages Nepal, accompanied by esteemed dignitaries. This visit provided a platform for a brief discussion on vital programmes of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal aimed at nurturing the development of children, young people, and communities.

During the visit, Dr. Ganga B. Gurung, the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal, shared valuable insights into the organisation's initiatives.

Expressing strong support for youth-focused initiatives, Minister Shrestha affirmed the Ministry's commitment to promoting the well-being of children and young people. He also showed his readiness to support the organisation's efforts in the field of alternative care.

Later in the day, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha participated in the National Youth Council Model United Nations 2024, as a chief guest held at SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Sanothimi. The event featured the participation of two hundred young people aged 16 to 24, selected through a rigorous online competition from all corners of the country.

Dr. Ganga B. Gurung, who attended the event as a guest, in his address, emphasised SOS Children’s Villages Nepal’s dedication to empowering young people through programmes focusing on entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.

SOS Children’s Villages Nepal was honored during the event for its significant contribution to the National Youth Council Model United Nations 2024.

The visit and participation highlighted the government's and SOS Children’s Villages Nepal's joint commitment to advancing youth development initiatives across the nation.
