SOS Children’s Village Jorpati is located in the northeast corner of Kathmandu city. It is situated inside the premises of Nepal Disable Association. The village was jointly inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Hermann Gmeiner and the then patron of Nepal Disable Association princess Shanti Rajya Laxmi Devi Singh in 1982. Since then, it has been providing its support to 68 differently abled children.

Knowing its capacity and the caring experiences of Mothers and Aunts at the village, some of intellectually disabled children and young people from other SOS Children’s Villages of the country have been transferred into this village. In our six family houses children are living together as a good community members. They attend regular school in the neighbourhood. Similarly, for the newcomers, an in-house school is being operated to prepare them in their formal school-class according to their age.
