SOS Children’s Village Bharatpur was established in August 2003 as the eight SOS Children's Village in Nepal. It lies in the southwestern part of Bagmati province in the town called Bharatpur of Chitwan district. This place is famous for exciting destinations like Chitwan National Park and one of the highly revered shrines called Devghat.
Since its inception in 2003, SOS Children’s Village Bharatpur is synonymous to quality care to the children who have lost or are at the verge of losing parental care. In 14 family houses of the Village, 126 children are pursuing their widest dream of becoming self-reliant and contributing member of the society. It has helped the children to heal the bruises of family disintegration and start a new life with love, compassion and hope.
SOS Children’s Village Bharatpur provides a long term care for the children who can no longer live with their families through its Family Like Care. In addition to these, it has SOS Youth Care. After passing Secondary Education Examination, young people are transferred to youth care. They learn to live semi-independent life. Similarly, we also run SOS Hermann Gmeiner School which are considered as the model schools of Nepal.
Every child has the right to grow up in a loving family. However, sometimes due to difficult circumstance parents are not able to care for their children. In such a situation, we work with families and communities to strengthen their capacitates so that children are well cared through Family Strengthening programme. It helps to prevent family breakdown to help families stay together.
