The First Lady of Nepal Handovers Guardianship of three children to SOS Children’s Villages Nepal

In a programme organized on 9th August, 2020 at Prime Minister’s residence Kathmandu, the First Lady Ms. Radhika Shakya handed over the guardianship of three children to SOS Children’s Villages Nepal who had lost their parents in the gracious presence of Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal.   

Addressing the programme, Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli focused on the rights of the children who have lost parental care. He said, “All the children have the right to live with their parents. However, if they are alone, then government is there to take their guardianship. Government is making every possible effort to provide care and protection to them.”  

The children were unaccompanied after the death of their mother and imprisonment of father.  After knowing the situation of these children from news, the First Lady Ms. Radhika Shakya rescued them. 

In the meantime, last month, she had visited SOS Children’s Villages Nepal and had requested to take the guardianship of these children.  

“I am highly impressed with the work of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal.  I believe and trust that these three children will have their right to quality care, health and education to reach their full potential,” says, the First Lady.   

Furthermore, the First Lady also highlighted on the need and importance of providing care to the children who are waiting for the guardianship.   

In the programme, she also announced to be the sponsor of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal.  

In the same programme, Mr. Ishwori Prasad Sharma, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal highlighted about the objective, vision and mission of the organization. He thanked the Prime Minster and the First Lady for their trust to SOS Children’s Villages Nepal.
