International Women’s Day 2021 Celebration at SOS CV Surkhet

The 111th International Women’s Day has been celebrated on 8th March 2021 in SOS Children’s Village Surkhet with the national slogan “Safety, Dignity and Employment for the Women; the Foundation of Prosperous Nepal”. The program was organized by the SOS Child Club of Surkhet.

On the auspicious occasion of International Women’s Day, The National Director Mr. Ishwari Prasad Sharma extended greetings to all the girls, mothers and women staff of SOS Children’s Village for their happiness, peace and prosperity. The message was read by the Director of the SOS Children’s Village Mr. Mukunda Kumar Giri.

The Chief Guest of the program  & the Head of ICT, Communication & Local Sponsorship Mr. Seetaram Subedi  shed lights on the history and significance of celebrating international women’s day. He explained, on March 8, 1911 Clara Jetkin raised voices against exploitation of women workers. The day marks that occasion.

The girls, mothers and the women staff performed various activities (singing, dancing, speech & games) to celebrate the day.

In the program, the girls of the SOS Children’s Village Surkhet   Deepa Sapkota and Nisha Acharya expressed their resentment towards the stakeholders for increased cases of sexual abuse and rape in the country. They urged that the safety of the girl child and women should be guaranteed by the concerned authorities.

During the program, six mothers of the SOS Family Care received the token of appreciation for promoting local sponsorship in Surkhet. They are Sita Thapa, Sarmila K.C, Durga Ghimire, Amrita Chaudhari, Tara Budhathoki and Madhava Regmi (Rayamajhi).

The program was presided over by the president of the SOS Child Club Ms. Samjhana Khadka and hosted by Alina Baigar and Sabina Nepali.
