SOS Hermann Gmeiner Schools

The HGS schools are working in collaboration with Ministry of Education Youth and Sports, Provincial/District Education Youth and Sports, and NGOs/IOs who are working in the same field of education. Since the inception of schools by providing scholarship assistances to Family Strengthening Program’s children families and other vulnerable marginalized children families.

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Bharatpur

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Bharatpur was established in 2004, with more than five hundred students and 45 staff at present. Nursery to Grade Five were the classes introduced in the first year, however, in the span of three years, the year 2007 came up with full-fledged classes up to Grade Ten. The school first appeared in the SLC examination in 2008 and started higher secondary level in Science stream in the very year with 38 students. In a very short span of time, with the efforts of dedicated, devoted and determined teachers, the school achieved fabulous result in the SLC examination glorifying its name as the best and one of the most reputed schools in the district. It was also awarded 'The Best School' by the District Education Office, Chitwan due to its excellent SLC result in 2008

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Gandaki

SOS Herman Gmeiner School Gandaki  runs classes from Nursery to Grade XII.It was established in 1982 with the establishment of SOS Children’s Village Gandaki. Initially it was up to Grade five and gradually it was promoted to the Higher Secondary School. Now it is the Higher Secondary School, one of the renowned Secondary not only in Pokhara but also in Nepal. It runs Science in the Higher Secondary. The purpose of running SOS Hermann Gmeiner School was to provide quality education of our Children (Children from SOS Children’s Village Gandaki). And to help the deserving children who had no access to school owing to their financial problem. Another objective of running the school was also to ease our children to come upon social children; to come to know the normal ways and behaviors by observing their friends.  

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Itahari

SOS Hermann Gmeiner Higher Secondary School Itahari is located in the outskirts of Itahari in Sunsari district in the eastern part of the country. The school was established in 1993 and now it runs classes from Nursery to Class Twelve. There is Grade Teaching up to Class two and Management stream in Classes Eleven and Twelve. With the dedication and the hard work of the team of staff here, the necessary support of SOS Children's Villages Nepal, SOS Children's Village Itahari , parents, guardians, local offices and other well-wishers, the school has become a centre of academic excellence especially in this part of the country.

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Kavre

From its inception in June 1999, SOS Hermann Gmeiner Higher Secondary School Kavre (SL Kavre) has been offering quality and relevant education to the children and young adults from CV Kavre and its surrounding communities. In the academic year (2015) 605 students studying from nursery to standard twelve (higher secondary level, management stream) have been receiving support in their learning process from 35 qualified and trained teachers and ten management staff members.

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Pokhara

SOS- Kinderdorf International has established SOS Hermann Gmeiner Schools in various countries as projects which complement the SOS Children's Village.This school has the privilege and honor of having the personal attention of the President of SOS KDI, Hon. Helmut Kutin, since the inception in 1987.His regular visits in monitoring the progress and expansion of the school from Kindergarten to Grade 12 have made it possible to see this school with a difference. This is the only higher secondary school in the valley providing Nepali, Tibetan and English as the medium of instruction and the only SOS Hermann Gmeiner School in the country with a special hostel facility.

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Sanothimi

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Sanothimi was established in 1973 with a prime motto of providing best possible quality education. It is named after the pious name of Prof. Hermann Gmeiner, the founding Father of SOS Children's Village International. This school is one of the ancillary facilities of SOS Children's Village Nepal and of course, the pioneer one in the development of SOS Hermann Gmeiner Schools in Nepal.The school  is located in Sanothimi, adjacent to the SOS Children’s Village Sanothimi. A road, leading from Kathmandu to the historical city Bhaktapur, passes by the school. It is approximately 10 km east from the centre of the capital. The location is very beautiful.  The city of Kathmandu and  a range of  snow-capped mountains can be viewed from the school area. The climate is pleasant here round the year. It occupies about 40 ropanies of land including  secondary and primary wings. The primary level and secondary level are separately located to the either side of SOS Children’s Village. The site was donated by the Nepalese government. In the 1970s, Sanothimi was in a rather rural set-up, but now it has become a part of city

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Surkhet

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Surkhet was established in the SOS Children’s Village Surkhet in 1989 A.D. It had begun with 120 children and four teachers. It had classes from Nursery to Three . Along with the growth of the children, the need of further education was realized; the school was gradually upgraded and became a full-fledged Secondary School in 1996.

Vocational Training

Vocational Training Center was built in 1978, located in Pokhara. SOS Vocational Training Centre Pokhara   provides vocational training to Tibetan Refugee's children living in Nepal. The center gives training on: Carpentry, Welding, Turning, Electronics, Secretary, and Computers.
