SOS Social Center Kavre

SOS Social Center Kavre (SC Kavre) came into operation in 2002 with a view to preventing children from the risk of losing parental care and/or keeping them within the families of origin.  Major programmes of SC Kavre include empowering single parent, especially mothers through income generating projects, livelihood programmes for the poorest of the poor and scholarship assistance (Hermann Gmeiner Scholarships) to children who otherwise would not have gone to school for financial reason.
As of July 2015 SC Kavre has been supporting 554 children from 288 families.  About 215 children from 115 families have already graduated the programme and are living relatively dignified and financially self-reliant life.  SC Kavre has also enrolled some severely affected earthquake victims in its Family Strengthening Programmes.
