32nd International SOS Day Observed

June 24:
Commemorating the birth of Great Human Heart ever in history Prof. Dr. Hermann Gmeiner (23rd June 1919), the apostle of humanity for innocent children who had lost their parents during the devastating World War II and now for those who have lost their parents or who are at the risk of losing parents, 32nd International SOS Day was observed from June 16-23, 2018 in SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Surkhet with different programs amid the children, teachers, staffs and parents. 
Club-wise activities for Children
Some entertaining sports and academic events were organized by different 11 clubs of the school on the auspicious occasion from June 16-18. Races, IT fun games, power point presentation, memory games, literary contests and other fun games were organized for boys and girls.

Internal Marathon for Children
On the 16th of June the internal marathon of different levels was scheduled to develop their running skill and their confidence. Many children took part in the program and enjoyed it.

Teacher and Staff Friendship Cricket Match
A friendship cricket match was managed among the teacher staff and management staff of school where all the members took part cheerfully and enjoyed the program. The prize distribution was held among them on 22nd of June.

Blood Donation Program
Like every year, on 20th June, another humanitarian program 'Blood Donation' organized by Junior Red Cross Circle of the school took place at Birendra Chowk, center of Birendranagar city and collected some 22 pints of blood which was handed over to the Blood bank of Mid-Western Hospital.

External Open Marathon
Apart from various internal events among SOS family members, district secondary level external open 'Street Marathon' for both boys and girls with the participation of more than 25 schools of the district was successfully conducted on June 21.  

Children's Open Dance Competition
On June 21, another mega event District Level Children's Dance Contest was held at school in which 18 schools and 4 Montessori schools had participated. Among them, the best five schools were awarded with cash prizes and certificates.

Grand Formal Program
On June 22, a grand closing ceremony was held in the gracious presence of the Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mr. Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, Mr. Dala Bahadur Rawal, the Minister of Social Development and Welfare and dignitaries from different sectors, stakeholders, sponsors and children. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed his pride of SOS activities in the region and commitment to support the organization in the future.
