Grand Celebration of 32nd SOS Day

SOS children’s Village Dhangadhi celebrated 32nd international SOS Day with various activities amidst children, mothers/aunts and staffs. The program was formally begun at 11:15 am with the national anthem and SOS prayer respectively. The Chief Guest, Mr. Mohan Raj Malla, The Governor of Province number seven, inaugurated the program by kindling ‘panus’, a sacred lamp and offering abir and flower to his effigy. The special Guest of the program was Mr. Nripa Bahadur Od, Mayor, Dhangadhi, Sub-metropolitan.

There was eminent presence of Mr. Janak Raj Bhatta, Chief District Officer Kaiali, Ms. Sandhya Rajyaswori Singh, Women Development Officer, Kailali, Mr. Bijaya Raj Joshi, Ward Chairperson, Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-13, journalists, security personnel, and principals representing different schools. 

The Chief Guest, Mr. Mohan Raj Malla, Governor, Province number seven highly appreciated the deeds of SOS in the field of social service, especially for the welfare of children.  He said that the organization like SOS, which is entirely devoted for the welfare of the children, is difficult to find. He further assured that he would talk with federal government and local government for the help and play initiative role from his respective place.

Similarly, Special Guest, Mr. Nrip Bahadur Od, Mayor, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, is greatly delighted by the works of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal in General and SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi in particular. He told that he is ready to help SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi from local government and further trying his best to acquire the help from federal government as well. Likewise, Mr. Janak Raj Bhatta, Chief District Officer, Kailali stated that he is always ready to help SOS since it has been working in the field of children especially those who have lost their family and are in the verge of extinction. 

Mr. Padam Bahadur briefly introduced the organization with it roots, mission, vision, principles and goals. He further informed about some of the activities of the village along with its achievements and challenges. He stated that SOS has not been receiving any sort of support neither form any organizations nor from governmental bodies, it is running by the help of sponsors since it is charity based organization. He clearly put forwarded his expectations from local and federal government and further appealed for help and taking ownership.

On behalf of organizer, Ms. Gopi Karki, the mother representative, offered her vote of thanks towards the Chief Guest, Special Guests, Guests, Journalists, sponsors, all the mothers and children. Mr. Ramesh Chandra Bhandari, Sr. Counselor, SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi anchored the overall program.
