SOS Children’s Village Kavre organized a ceremonial program to give honor to seven distinguished personalities from Kavre for their social and professional commitments in realizing the vision ‘A loving home for every child’ with or without being aware of what SOS Organization is working for. Mr. Surya Chandra Bade Shrestha (Banepa) was honored for his efforts in spreading spiritual message and family values in the society and for inspiring people to lead a socially and morally upright life. Mr. Ramchandra Ghinanju (Dhulikhel)’s ‘Cooperative Movement’ has uplifted the economic standard and many financially marginalized families and his efforts to preserve and improve public places such as school buildings, temples, etc. have been noteworthy. Mr. Haribhakta Bhhochibhoya (Banepa), a widely known educationist, social worker and spiritual personality initiated to establish many social organizations and worked hard to improve the education standard of public schools in Kavre. Dr. Ambu Bhawani Karki (Panauti) donated a building and a big piece of land to establish a college that focuses on teacher training and tertiary education. She has encouraged women to attend schools/colleges and has been a role model or women to become financially self-dependent. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Koju (Dhulikhel) played a highly supportive role in the establishment of and expansion of Dhulikhel Hospital which has become a model community hospital of the country today. His expertise in cardiology used through the hospital and Rotary Clubs, Nepal Hearts Foundation and other social organizations has saved lives of many people, especially women from socially and financially marginalized families. Dr. Suman Tamrakar (Panauti), a gynecologist and obstetrician, has saved many women through his expertise during his duty hours and as a volunteer in many health camps. He also publishes health related articles in national dailies and weeklies regularly; a major contribution to improving public health in Nepal. Mr. Grouben Taujale (Banepa), a devout YOGA Guru and a businessperson, has been widely recognized in the country for spreading the importance of Yoga and Meditation. His efforts to reduce the consumption of alcohol and junk-food have enabled many families to lead a peaceful life. Speaking as the chairperson of the ceremony, Mr. Shree Shankar Pradhananga, national director congratulated the recipients of the honor, conveyed them gratitude for their efforts to make the families a better place for children to live and the world more beautiful; this is something SOS Organization has been working since its inception in Austrian in 1949. Mr. Ishwori Prasad Sharma, project director welcomed the participants, briefed the purpose of the ceremony and gave details of the selection process. He congratulated the ‘felicitated personalities’ for supporting the SOS Movement of making ‘A loving home for every child’. Attended by more than 200 people consisting of local dignitaries, social workers, SOS Mothers and coworkers of CV Kavre, national office and other locations, this ceremony is expected to strengthen the relationship of the SOS Kavre and local individuals & institutions; and to spread the message (vision & values)of our organization amongst wider audience.
