SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi celebrated its grand inauguration program on 2nd October, 2015. The program was formally begun at 12:45 p.m. with the national anthem and SOS prayer respectively followed by the welcome speech of Prof Dr. Bishwa Keshar Maskay, the President of SOS Children's Villages Nepal. The Chief Guest, Mr. Helmut Kutin, the Honorary President, SOS Children's Villages International, formally inaugurated the program by kindling 'panus', a sacred lamp and offering garland and bouquet of flower onto the photo of founding father, Prof. Hermann Gmeiner. The Special Guest of the program was Mr. Mohan Bahadur Chapagain, the Chief District Officer, District Administration Office Kailali. There was eminent presence of Miss Shubha Murti, the International Director, Region-Asia, Mr. Shree Shankar Pradhananga, the National Director, SOS Children's Villages Nepal, government officers, journalists, security personnel, educationists, different personages from distinct child care homes and local dignitaries. Mr. Helmut Kutin extended his thanks to all the children, Mothers, Aunts, CoWorkers for their effort from their respective place to run this village efficiently. He highly appreciated the performance of the children. He also requested all the people of this region to extend their helping to this children’s Village. The special attraction of the ceremony was the cultural dance of SOS children in the song "saya thari baja eutai taal, saya thari paila eutai chal…" which resembles the racial, social, cultural, and geographical harmony within the village. Likewise, another cultural Deuda dance on "Aaigayo Basanta ritu mahina ramjham…" was praiseworthy, eye catching and gave real cultural flavor of the locality, especially of the Far Western part of Nepal'. Similarly, Special Guest, Mr. Mohan Bahadur Chapagain, the Chief District Officer told that he was greatly delighted by the work of SOS Children's Villages Nepal in general and SOS Children's Village Dhangadhi in particular. He further stated that SOS is playing pivotal role for the protection of the children who lost their parental care and those who are in verge of losing parental care. He further assured to provide administrative support to the children’s village. On behalf of all the village children, Ms. Ghana Kumari Khatri offered vote of thanks. Divyaswori Bohara, mother representative also bid her thanks to all the helping hands. Similarly Mr. Padam Bahadur Hamal, the Village Director, SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi, briefly gave recent progress of the village in his thanking note. In his speech Mr. Shree Shankar pradhnanga, the National Director, thanked to all the donors, sponsors and helping hands. The program was immediately followed by the inauguration of the five family houses by different dignitaries. Mr. Helmut Kutin, Honorary President of SOS Children’s Villages International unveiled the plaque as the formal inauguration of the SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi. The program was anchored by Mr. Mukunda Kumar Giri, Principal, Hermann Gmeiner School Surkhet.
