Fundraising Program (15th June 2011, Wednesday)

On the 1st day of SOS Weekly Program Celebration, a new Nepali movie “ACHANAK” was demonstrated in local movie theatre at Biratnagar as a charity show in 15th June 2011. The purpose of the show was completely fundraising to support SOS Children’s Village Itahari. Every youths and co staff of the facility (SOS Youth Facility Biratnagar) were mobilized with full of enthusiasm for around two weeks for ticket selling for the show.

2. Blood Donation Program (17th June 2011, Friday)

Blood donation program is an integral part of every International SOS Day Celebration Program of SOS Youth Facility Biratnagar. On 17th June 2011, the blood donation program was held at Boys Facility premise. Altogether 50 people (most of the locally available youths, co staff and other local people from the society) so spontaneously donated their valuable blood in the program.

3. Inauguration of SOS Hall of Fame (17th June 2011, Friday)

(SOS Youth Facility Biratnagar has started to maintain SOS Hall of Fame of youths of SOS Youth Facility Biratnagar. The youths who are successfully accomplishing their duties and responsibilities in the different social spheres of the country and in the international level too are included in it. Youths’ portfolio including current photographs, their qualifications and current working details are maintained in the Hall of Fame.)
Along with the blood donation program, the inauguration program of SOS Hall of Fame of SOS Youth Facility Biratnagar was held in 17th June 2011. Altogether 14 youths (7 girls and 7 boys) are covered in Hall of Fame for the initial phase. Due to some circumstances, some other youths who are eligible for being framed in Hall of Fame are remained to be framed. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Rewat Bahadur Thapa, Member of Nepal Tourism Board, Kathmandu/President of Nepal Tourism Board (Mechi/Koshi).

4. Social Support (Charity) Program (19th June 2011, Sunday)

Social service/support for the needy people (especially children and ageing population) in the nearby community is one of the major mottos of SOS Youth Facility Biratnagar and SOS Social Service Club Biratnagar. Social support is another integral part of every International SOS Day Celebration weekly programs. Social support is solely an autonomous program of SOS Social Service Club Biratnagar. On 19th June 2011, the club supported five ceiling fans to a neighboring primary school at Biratnagar, which was deprived of some sort of basic physical needs. The school family and the community people were very much happy and impressed regarding the youths social support activity.

5. Games (16th, 21st and 22nd June 2011)

Different indoor and outdoor games were organized by the youths of SOS Youth Facility Biratnagar. Full three days were enjoyed playing those games by youths and office Co-staff. Likewise, the outdoor games played were; Football, Volleyball and Tug of War.  Indoor games were; Chess and Carom board.             All the outdoor games were played combine by girls and boys. One memorable part of the games event was football, in which the youths of SOS Social Service Club played a friendly football match with the children of SOS Young Star Club of SOS Children Village Itahari. The event was organized at the football ground of Bhupalgram, in front of Girls Facility on 16th June. The game was very much competitive and exciting.

6. Closing Ceremony (23rd  June 2011, Thursday)

SOS Children Village Itahari and SOS Youth Facility Biratnagar celebrated the concluding program of the 92nd Birth Day of Honorable Late Father Professor Dr. Hermann Gmeiner and 25th International SOS Day on 23rd June 2011 at SOS Children’s Village Itahari. Different people having different professional background were invited as guests in the program. The Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sunsari district Mr. Chudamani Sharma was the chief guest of the program. Mr. Ramesh Tamrakar (Project Director, SOS Children Village Itahari) was the President of the program. The program was started at around 4:00 PM and was concluded at around 6:30 PM. Different cultural and musical events were hosted by the children and youths. On that occasion, certificates distribution of youths’ social activities like; Leadership training, Community Service Program and Blood donation program was held. Accordingly, the coworkers who have been working around past 20 years were awarded by “Life time achievement Award”. The chief guest inaugurated the 1st issue of youth magazine “Reflection of Life” published by SOS Social Service Club Biratnagar. The magazine was completely a hand written version of the youths. All of the participants in the program fully appreciated the efforts of youths’ and children’s dedication in social support activities.
