SOS Social Centre, Bardiya was established in the year 1997.It is 34 km south - west on Mahindra high way from Nepalgunj city. It is a small place with Tharu majority ethnic group.SOS Social Centre, Bardiya has two separate Day Care centre located at different places of Bardiaya district at a distance of 4 km each. One of the social centres is located in Tharu village at Bhakari while the other one is located near a Mahendra High way at Bansgadhi bazaar .The two Social Centres cover almost 4 vdc’s caring 130 children.

Profile:

SOS Social Centre Bardiya has 13 care takers (5 -bhakari & 6-bansgadhi), 2 day care in charge and 2 night guard. Each Day Care Centre has playground with 1 –slides, 2-swing, and 2-swing boat. 2- Toilets, 1-hall, 1- sleeping room, 1- kitchen and 1- hut used as dinning.

SOS Social Centre cares for 130 children’s for the low–economic level people where they can work whole day to earn food for their family leaving their children’s at SOS Day Care Centre. The Day Care staff makes and prepares those children’s looking whole day on their cleanness, food and playing with educational materials and prepare the younger ones for learning primary education, rhymes and songs.

The main objective of this centre is to provide nutritional foods, health care, physical and mental growth for the poor children’s from various communities. Children becoming 5 years of age are admitted to the nearby government school. So then after we support them on school fees, uniform, stationary etc till SLC. SOS Social Centre supports those scholarship children’s being social and moral on different issues like child rights and responsibilities, early child marriages etc.SOS Social Centre also supports for their kinship on teaching adulthood literacy class, awareness on different bad practices on the communities, like early childhood marriage, child-rights their basic needs of providing food, shelter and education, child trafficking etc.

SOS Social Centre is supporting total of 452 numbers of scholarship children’s from different vdc’s. So SOS Social Centre somehow improves literacy rate at rural areas.
