This school has the privilege and honor of having the personal attention of the President of SOS KDI, Hon. Helmut Kutin, since the inception in 1987.His regular visits in monitoring the progress and expansion of the school from Kindergarten to Grade 12 have made it possible to see this school with a difference. This is the only higher secondary school in the valley providing Nepali, Tibetan and English as the medium of instruction and the only SOS Hermann Gmeiner School in the country with a special hostel facility. |
| Background |
Initially the focus of this school was to provide an all round education to the children of the SOS Children's Village Pokhara and the Tibetan Refugee Community whereby they could follow the National Curriculum and also learn Tibetan Language, Literature, history and culture. The School was formally inaugurated |

on June 6, 1987 by the Chairperson of SOS Children’s Village Nepal in the presence of the President of SOS KDI, Hon. Helmut Kutin. Mr.R.K Sharma convened as the National Director of SOS CV Nepal and Mr. Tsering Thondup as the first Principal for the School. |
Over the years, this school has provided educational opportunities to the children of the neighboring Nepali Community as well as students from the feeder schools of the Tibetan Community from the remote regions of North Western Nepal. |

The school is situated at two separate places in Pokhara (a tourist destination 200 km West of Kathmandu) with an average elevation of 900 metres above seal level. The Kindergarten and the Junior School are at Chhorepatan (Southwest) while the Senior School is at Gharipatan (South East) |
